The month of July has flown by – I can’t believe on Monday I have to register my kids for school.

• Pan will be in 5th grade, and Tink will be in 2nd.  For all the new moms, or moms with kids younger than me – it is true – enjoy the time you have with your kids, it goes by sooo fast.

What has happened this past month

• Mr. Incredible built a cabinet and “closet” in the basement… looks great!

• The kids participated in the county fair.  Pan -three blue ribbons; Tink – two participation ribbons (best she can do)

• My parents wanted to have the kids for a few days – was supposed to be for 4 days – they stayed 10.  (I really missed them!)  Due to the flood, I knew that I would be swamped at work, so in the end it was good that they stayed, but I missed having them around!

• Our county flooded, (on the 23-25th) as the Public Information Officer in training for Emergency Management – I was a little busy…still am – don’t know if it will be a good thing if we are declared a disaster area on the federal level or not.  It wasn’t as bad as some parts of the state, but with the economy being what it is none of the families have the money they will need to replace furnaces, air conditioners etc…the ones in our town do have flood insurance, the ones in a community in the northern part of our county do not…. they are not in a flood plain, it was just too much water too fast!

• Helped a friend and her family “bug out” – started on a friday night at 10:30 and got done Saturday at 4:30 AM… there shouldn’t be a 4:30 AM – it’s not fun.   The friends’ husband got very ill on Sunday, and has been in the ICU for several days – it’s not good (he is leaking spinal fluid).  We moved their items back in their house yesterday – (Saturday), so when they do get to come home they can.  That’s the great thing about small communities, we needed a plumber – one just showed up, needed an electrician – one just showed up to help – no charge.  Just great!

• I worked over 100 hours of overtime in July.   They moved me to salary, so not OT pay for me!  Gotta love it when companies re-organize!  I’m going to really look at my schedule and be taking time off over the next few months, because this is ridiculous!
