The hubby & I took the kids to the twin cities for a mini-vacation this past weekend. We stayed downtown on Thursday night, walking from the hotel to “The Newsroom”, ate outside and the kids got to “watch” the people on the street. Interesting, as we had (what I am guessing was) a homeless man sit on the bench and watch us eat… we later figured out – that he was watching the TV that was inside above our table.
The girl loves the city, the buildings, the people, the variety of stores, the excitement of it all. The boy – he likes bits and pieces…”it’s okay to visit, but I’m not gonna live there.”
Took the kids to the science museum on Friday, thinking that it would only take an hour or two… nope, we spent 4 to 5 hours there. There was something for everyone, I think the kids liked looking at cells under a microscope the best.
On Friday night we met up with some friends and their kids and hung out at the Mall of America. Who knew two teen-age girls could have so much fun at the mall? Apparently, the other mom. Thankfully at this stage in the parenting game – my kids aren’t into the whole let me shop until I am dead… (I don’t see the boy ever acting that way – the girl… I’m not so sure)
Saturday, spent the entire day at the mall – the kids rode on rides, and went to the Aquarium. If you have the chance – spend the extra $7 and do the behind the scenes tour – awesome and we had the best tour guide – Laura! I don’t know who had more fun the hubby or the kids!
Today – was pack up and come home. Stopping at my hometown hospital to visit my Grandma – she had a hip replacement and is taking longer to recovery then expected. I am hoping that she is able to come home soon – I think she will recover faster at home.
It always seems like the last hour of the drive is the longest… but it’s good to be home. Now to get laundry done, and ready for the work week!
New job is going well – I have officially been there a month, and I think I have a good handle on things!

I am glad you are enjoying your new job. I have to say, moving here feels like coming home after a long vacation. It feels good to relax and settle in.

Behind the scenes at the Mall of America. Sounds really American.
