Why I should never throw anything away….

because I end up doing disgusting, gross things….

We have dish network. I {heart} my DVR… that said. Our remote stopped working, no big deal - we have that warranty…. Mr. Incredible calls, goes through their hoops, $15(shipping) and a day later we have a new (very cool) remote. Now this remote came in a box - which Mr. Incredible proceeded to leave on the bookshelf. I was supposed to have a friend over, so I was tidying up the house a bit and I threw away the box this remote came in - seriously -why would we need this box? This was Thursday.

Fast Forward to Saturdayy…

Mr. Incredible: Where’s the box the remote came in?

Fantastagirl: I probably threw it away.

Mr. Incredible: No seriously - where is the box - I need the instruction manual and the extra keys…or we can’t get a different remote.

So we look everywhere… and I am thinking to myself - that thing came on TUESDAY - garbage man came on WEDNESDAY… I am so screwed - because I knew I threw the box away… after looking in all the usual stuffing places - you know - the cart under the phone, the junk drawer, the hall closet, his cabinet in the basement, my cabinet in the basement….

I finally bite the bullet head out to the garage -and there at the bottom of the BIG garbage can is the bag of garbage I threw away Thursday morning… and at the bottom of that bag? Is the box. Inside the box - the instruction manual and these 4 little keys - value $40….

The look on Mr. Incredible’s face when I dug through the garbage to not have to spend $40.00 to watch tv… priceless….

Moral of the story - Don’t throw anything away - you never know when you will end up going through each trash bag, trying to find 4 little pieces of plastic - that will enable your Husband, the love of your life or your kids, the apple of your eye - the wonderful enjoyment of watching that box in the corner of the room. And never underestimate the power of being able to watch Arthur, while recording Spongebob or some other drivel like that…

I am notorious for throwing things away and then regreting it later (more then likely because I am getting yelled at by hubby for God forbid throwing away his beloved winter coat away that he hasn’t worn in 10 years, or getting rid of 2 sets of uniforms that he doesn’t even need anymore considering he isn’t in the Marine Corps anymore) Yep, I know how it is!! lol

Bossy Britches – Don’t you know it …

Wethyb – I am so glad I am not the only person who does this.

Momyblogr – I am normally not a tosser – normally I save everything…EVERYTHING – even those little ketchup packets from the drive thru… I think it comes from having nothing growing up.

Marel – Totally screwed – that’s usually me

Melis – I am too – he would never let me live it down – I finally throw something away – and it’s not garbage…

Mike –Happy Endings are always good – Saving $40 – is like a huge happy ending!

Ashley – I didn’t want the DVR until I had it and then I didn’t know how I watched TV without it.

Tamara – you have to have one… it’s great – you can watch an 1 hour show in 40 minutes, plus you don’t have to wait for a commercial to change a diaper…lol

Bornfool – how did we live without it?

Sal – If I had closet space I would have a closet for stuff I might need someday too…

Choppzs – This is why I think I won’t be tossing stuff away…

Vani – it certainly could have been – can you imagine – NO SPONGEBOB? No Arthur – the world would have certainly come to an end.

    Jodes – now you know….

In reading your post, my first and foremost thought was “seriously, she used seriously”. I have found myself using this word alot since GA started. I love it!!!

Secondly, TIVO/DVR… I am a junkie and can’t live without it. Now I wish I had it for the radio. Do they make it? If so, I want it bad.

You really lucked out on this one. I would have been screwed as we live in a city that provides trash service so they are large dumpsters in the alley that everyone throws their trash in. I would have paid the $40 before I would dig through the dumpster.

My motto is the 24 hour rule… if you leave it lay around more than 24 hours, then it is history.
