The first of the season

Well it’s rhubarb season in our fine city - and today I was given 3 large bags of the stuff. Mr. Incredible loves rhubarb pie… and I spent the good portion of the day washing, chopping, and freezing the stuff (I have enough rhubarb for 8 pies in the freezer). Here is my first attempt, the crust is not looking so good - I think I need thinner strips for the top. It’s one of those things that I forget how to do, so will have to try again.

It’s his Grandma’s recipe - I swear when she gave his mom the recipe she left something out - and when she gave me the recipe she cut back on the sugar - because hers always taste soooo good. How did this one taste? I don’t know yet, it’s too hot to eat…. will have to wait until tomorrow…or it will be a late night snack.

Wow, you are talented!!! I have to admit though, I have always hated rhubarb pie. My parents/grandparents used to grow so much of it and we had rhubarb all summer long. Yuck.

I’ve only had rubarb strawberry pie once, but really like it.

Can I come over and try your pie?

We played Sunday Six. Let me know if you play and we’ll stop by later.

Most other rhubarb pies I’ve eaten taste like crap, but not grandma’s recipe!

The pie was delicious. I can’t wait to have another slice.

Oh, and I love strawberries, but putting them in rhubarb pie is a waste of both strawberries, and rhubarb. They are both best enjoyed seperately.

I haven’t tried rhubarb since I was a kid, but at that time, I didn’t like it. I have a feeling I would like it now.

Nice looking pie. The picture made my mouth water!

Me - my mom makes rhubarb cake, crisp, sauce etc etc…I understand.

    Timestep - come on over.

Meritt - I’ll be looking for some of those recipes - one can only eat so much pie.

    Vani - it was good.

Mr Incredible - you know I only made it because I love you…

Dave - I’d send you one if I had a way to ship it.
