Do you see that red light? It came on the other day – and then we had to wait a day to get a new filter for it. Now, all has returned to normal.
So the question of the day… Would you continue to drink water from it and pretend that you didn’t see it all day – or drink the city water from the kitchen sink?
Our city water – while treated etc, tastes like well, city water…. yuck and I know it’s still city water – but it tastes so much better after it comes from the fridge.
After much looking and trying to find something to replace my chipped set of plates that are at least 17 years old, (i’ve had them for 12 years, and the MIL had them at least 5 before that) we finally bought something. Why now? I don’t know – maybe its because we are down to four plates…and I think Mr Incredible was tired of eating off of paper.
Corelle Sandstone is what we ended up with from our local Wal*mart. I need to find a platter – for now the old platter will work and I did pick up a couple of serving bowls. Now don’t think we are beneath eating off of chipped plates, but when you cut your thumb on the chipped area they become a hazard.
Maybe I should sell the mismatches on Ebay….it’s kinda an ugly pattern – but maybe someone needs the salt and pepper shakers?
at this very moment in time, I am supposed to be picking up Pan from school. I can’t find my keys, and my purse (with the extra set) is locked inside the van in the driveway….(well discuss my habit of locking the vehicle even though it is in the driveway later)
Have any of you seen my keys and if so – where are they????
PS – Don’t tell Mr Incredible he will never let me live this down.
~Fantastagirl – who wishes her superhero powers were working today -because it’s just been one of those days…..
***** Updated – they were found under the “art” table in the basement…. which makes perfect sense, (NOT REALLY) I guess I set them on the table when I walked in the door – but uhm… I don’t remember putting them there – I usually stick them in my pocket…. so I’m thinking Tink was helping me with them, or something like that.
My parents stopped by tonight… which surprised me. I knew they would be in the area, but they never talked about stopping in… (and for my parents in the area is anything within a 30 mile radius). The kids were thrilled. They love Grandpa and Grandma.
When she called we were just getting supper ready – Mr. Incredible had steaks on the grill, bread was in the oven – the veggies were simmering on the stove, and the potatoes were done…. but we only had three steaks… so I go through the freezer, find some chicken and toss that on the grill (well Mr. Incredible grilled it) and everything was on the table by the time they pulled in the drive.
My kids were so excited, even though it is 95 degrees out there – they went outside and played catch, watched the kids on the monkey bars/swings and just had a great time. They were only here for about an hour and a half. Tink cried when they left and wanted me to show her on the calendar when we would go see them. Sometimes I am so glad we live as far away as we do, and others I wish we were closer.
TNT had Saving Private Ryan on and I watched it (I’m not sleeping well at nights). You would think that as many times as I’ve seen this movie that I would be able to watch it without crying. But I can’t – I cry…..the water is so red, the looks on their faces is one of “oh shit”…. arms, legs, bodies, everywhere. I want to tell myself – this is just a movie – this isn’t how it was….but I know better. That is how it was – it was a million times worse…and then my mind wanders to our soldiers today…which makes me cry harder.
The kids and I were going to go up to (insert name of smalltown here) to watch the Memorial Day services. My Dad is the Legion Post Commander, growing up – my siblings and I had a part of these services – from playing taps, to doing the readings and to placing the wreath on the tomb of the unknown. This would have been the first year for the kids to go, but it is not happening today. (a family friend passed away – not enough hours for travel to make it all happen)
I think I’ve mentioned that my Grandpa M has written a book about his experience in WWII, and perhaps I’ve mentioned that he asked other veterans to write what they could about their experiences, not just the veterans from WWII, but all of them – whether they served in peace times, or during conflict. Since I won’t be at the cementary, I thought I would read one or two stories as my own private way of honoring them. Pan wanted to know what I was reading – I told him it was a book full of stories written by soldiers like H, and he asked if he could read them, not yet I said – told him the words would be a little hard, and it would be scary … At 5, he doesn’t need to read this, at 15, I hope he still wants to.
I hope that you can take a minute or two to think about the men that died and are still fighting …Remember them, not just today but everyday.
It’s time for Sunday Six a game we play with Kelly – did you play? Let us know…this week:
Well of course, Memorial Day is the perfect theme this week, however we have some Canadians who play as well, so I decided to throw in some questions about memories to keep it fun! Pan did not want to play this week. Tink(3.7) played.
1. Why do we celebrate Memorial Day? – I no know? Why – (so I explain it to her) oh soldier guys, they keep us safe.
2. How do we celebrate Memorial Day? we play and have fun
3. What is a memory? – cards (She is thinking the game memory)
4. What is your best memory? – The monkey cards – I win those!
5. What do we cook when we BBQ? – food – hamburgers, steak, ribs, chicken and Hot dogs
6. Where is your favorite place to BBQ? outside, so the house doesn’t get on fire.
Have a great Sunday!
Mr. Incredible is on-call for the weekend – so we are home. Although if he wasn’t on-call I don’t think we would have gone anywhere anyway – we are boring people. Mr. Incredible would rather not be around a bunch of people and family gatherings on my side includes a bunch of people. It’s going to be a long weekend – and while we could/should be doing some sort of home improvement project, neither one of us wants to do one.
Sure – just my luck – I just type that and now we have to go to the hardware store…. I’d let him go by himself – but do you realize how dangerous that is? Hundreds can be spent in that store just by him walking through the door.
I should go to the food store – they won’t be open tomorrow or Monday – I’m guessing we will be grilling something this weekend and it would probably be a good thing to have meat to grill and other food to eat with it….
That’s it – nothing exciting.

This weeks SPF is sort of based on Auschwitz.- go see Kristine to see what this is all about – and let her know you played.
1. Your suitcase/s or travel bag.
2. Your ground
3. Somthing you are powerless to
Well due to technical difficulties with my camera this morning – I can only sorta half-way play.
This is our backyard and my ground -
and the thing I am powerless to? My kids – you all know that I will do anything for my kids…
My suitcase – is old – and you would have love the pic – but for some reason I can’t get the pic to load…. ugh…..
Let me know if you played!
It’s only as hard as you make it.

One of my friends gave Tink this little Eeyore book – she loves it – and of course it has gone everywhere with us today.
The food store, and that other store. Tink was a great helper today. She talked to the guy at the meat counter – about what I really have no idea as the other guy was helping me. Talked the check-out lady into letting her scan some of the things we bought, and she talked to the manager who took our groceries out. She can talk to everyone… teachers are going to have fun with her.
But at the other store we had to go to – someone (friend – the same one that gave her the eeyore book one day ago) came up to us and told us she was beautiful today and she said NOTHING… not a word came out of her mouth.
Then after all our errands this morning, we had lunch and I told her she needed to take a rest.
She informed me – a rest was not needed, that she was in fact.NOT.tired.
Of course when she is this agreeable everyone knows that naps are not needed…. right? What does a Momma know? So I agreed to let her watch Between the Lions in the blue chair.
She didn’t even make it thorugh the credits…..
Now I need to wake her so we can go get Pan. Only 3 more days of school….
so little “want” to get it all done.
I have a list a mile long of things that I need to do today – and I don’t want to do any of it. I’m hoping Mr. Incredible calls and wants us to bring him lunch today, I’m in the mood for chinese food….mmmmm moo goo gai pan.
Question of the Day: If you caught a stringer full of fish, where would you clean them? Would you let them be cleaned in YOUR kitchen?
(No, Mr. Incredible did not want to clean fish in my kitchen – it’s a bet my sister has with her soon to be hubby…she says outside – Not in the kitchen… he says he needs the sink…)
