It’s Official - I am old.

Tonight Mr. Incredible were discussing our Swim Instructor. She’s a high school gal - she is great with the kids, but it’s becoming apparent that being on-time, and keeping appointments is not high on her list. Hanging out with friends and the boyfriend rate higher - which I understand, I was young once (many moons ago). But damit - If we make an appointment for a certain date and time - don’t cancel on me and the kids we need to get these darn things done.

We are having this discussion after the kids went to bed saying how young people just aren’t responsible anymore - and we are watching - get this the HISTORY CHANNEL (but it’s a cool show). My Grandparents watch the History Channel - this isn’t something that young people do!

We complain that the volume is too loud when the TV is on Boomerang!, and not loud enough when the weather is on. I swear we have have the DVR feature, just so we can rewind - because we missed what was said.

We are tired at night, and find ourselves getting ready for and going to bed earlier each night.

We talked about growing up in simpler times - I only had 4 channels - PBS, NBC, CBS and ABC - and the signal strength was such that we didn’t always get ABC. I didn’t have Fox (so no, I didn’t watch 90210 in high school) or MTV…

I don’t know who the Origial V-Jay’s were, nor do I care. Hubby had MTV on the day it launched in 1981- and remebers what was playing. I don’t remember certain events in the late 70’s early 80’s, so Mr Incredible tells me I am young and had a sheltered life.

But today I feel really old, why? Because I was reading my hometown newspaper on-line. The last family I babysat for before going to college - the youngest son was in the paper - he received a full academic scholarship to college…I used to change his diapers -and now he is going to college? I am soooo freakin’ old….

Just go to any antique mall and check out the things you had as a kid that they are selling as antiques! That will make you feel old in a hurry!

If you were *that* old, you’d be reading the paper the old fashioned way, not ONLINE (wink)!

There are days I feel old too. My neice just graduated - I remember holding her as a newborn when I was in High school!

But I am still a big kid at heart and refuse to grow up…hehe

Yep, it’s weird when you get your niece and nephews graduation announcements in the mail along with a pic, and wonder when it was they passed the 9th grade???? Holy crap, and you barely recognize them. Yahh, me and hubby were doing the same thing as you all the other night. Watching the weather and getting ready for bed. I am with you on the feeling old thing!

Jennifer - welcome to the club!

    Jessica - That is true.

Cheeky - It’s like Holy SHITE how did this happen?

Choppz - we’ve got to do something about that!

Oh, you mean like when I stood in front of the class this fall, ready to teach my first class ever and realized that I could have given birth to these kids w/out it being too scandolous (I would have been a sr. in college). This year I will have

… I’d go to the swim instructors ‘boss’ and ask her/his opinion on what you should do to get these lessons accomplished. They’ll put her on the right track.

We love the History Channel. But I swear that programs on the Disney Channel are just louder. I turn it down to 4 for the morning shows and up to 8 fro anything on the other (non-kid) networks.

I had one of those exact moments this week. My little neighbors growing up that I baby sat would come knock on the front door and ask if I could play with them. They were 5 and I was 13. The youngest just graduated last week. Yah, I’m old too! Of course, I was in college and had new neighbors knocking at the door asking if I could play with them or babysit them for the summer. Kids are fun but they can sure make us feel old.
