the toughest job I’ve ever had….

Someone said that I make “having children sound like fun” - it’s true - I like being a mom, actually I love it. It’s the best job I’ve ever had, and it also the most demanding. Never have I had a boss like my two kids - it’s 24/7, non-stop - and it’s the most rewarding, that said - here’s the low down…

Conception - FUN
Being Pregnant - some parts of it are fun
The delivery part - not so much fun
Hearing your Baby’s first cry - breath taking
Naming rights - wonderful…
Late nights, early mornings, and not sleeping through the nights - not so much fun
Snuggling with the newborn baby - priceless
Knowing that you are responsible for the upbringing of this new baby - scary as hell.
The hugs, kisses and “I love yous”- FANTASTIC
The whining because they wouldn’t take their nap - not fun
Making snowmen and going sledding - FUN
Blowing bubbles on a spring day - FUN
Having water gun fights just because - FUN
Art Projects - messy - but FUN
Seeing your child finally achieve a hard to reach goal (monkey bars, scoring a goal, jumping off the boards) - Fantastic
Watching them grow and become their own little self - FUN
Listening to them - their conversations can be so comical - funny
and my favorite part of being a parent -
Getting to see the world through the eyes of a child - It’s Priceless…

Today is the last offical “Stay Home Mommy Day” as after our long weekend, I will be going back to work full-time. I’m kinda sad… I know we need the income, but I have really enjoyed staying home with my kids. I have worked full-time as long as I can remember - until October of last year. It was great getting to stay home with the kids and if we could afford it - I would…

Going back to work and leaving the baby is a DRAG for sure. But that’s why they call it WORK! (problem is now you have EVEN more work when you get home)! GOOD LUCK! ~ jb///

I had to work, too, when The Daughter was little (I was single for most of those years). Nothing wrong with that.

But I think that’s part of the reason I so enjoy staying home now. We make it work financially and I can spend a lot more one-on-one time with The Granddaughter than I could with the Daughter.

I was never so fortunate either. The reality of todays economy I think.

Having the OH home when the girls were preschool was great for the girls though. I guess all said and done, it works out some how *S*

Sad that you have to leave a job that you so love. All I can say is the beauty of having nieces and nephew and no kids is that most of your list is just plain fun for me since I don’t really have to worry about the tough stuff LOL. Good luck going back to work!!

lz blogger - I’ve left them each already once - when Pan was 8 weeks and Tink was 12 weeks. and I do work part-time now…but you are right - they call it work for a reason.

Jodes - I will enjoy what I do, and the kids do LOVE their daycare so it’s a good thing - they learn a lot there…

blogarita - If we hadn’t made some choices before I lost my job we could have made it work, but since we signed on the dotted line… I had to go back - but I’ve enjoyed my time.

Mal - reality really sucks sometimes…

Sue - my sis says the same thing…

    Cheeky - thanks!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, that was just sad…and happy…all at once.

I know it’s a tough thing to do but you’ve got some great memories to get you through the rough mornings at work.

TKW - you’ve got that right!

Lars - I know many Dads that feel the same way - and some that would rather not - it’s always a bonus to “know” someone who likes their kids.

    Jennifer - thank you!

EA - I’m sorry and at the same time I’m not - we haven’t been able to do many things because I’m not working full-time, so that fulltime check is going to be awesome - but at the same time - let’s just say it’s like a catch 22… it is how it is, and how do you say it - it’s time to put my big girl panties on and deal with it… or something like that.

    Girl, you left off:

    Diaper rash–not fun

    Thunderstorms and lightning–not fun

PB&J sandwiches thrown at the wall–not fun

Art lessons (on the white walls)–not fun

I could go on and on…but yes, you do make it sound like fun. Thank you for reminding me.

    Pro-D -

Diaper Rash only lasts a few days - get magic butt cream from the Doctor - works like magic.

Thunderstorms - are fun- it’s just the angels bowling, and the lightening is just pictures being taken…

PB&J on the wall - my kids never threw food at the wall or each other - have no experience there….

Art Lessons on the wall - is still art - and maybe it was time to repaint anyway….

it is FUN… just look at it through different eyes, and remember they are only young once, enjoy them…

That said - I just got done shampooing the carpet in the basement, because Tink made me drop a full cup of dt. coke…did I yell - yes, but by the end of it - we were both playing in the suds…

I would have to agree with all the above. I am very blessed to be able to stay at home with my kids. These days though, I am about ready to pull my hair out, or rip a kid’s head off. lol Terrible twos, teething, and summer break all jumbled into one summer!! Yahhh!! (lol that was sarcastic incase you didn’t know!! lol)
