I’m Back.

I’m exhausted.

The camera is a Cannon SD450 -I haven’t gotten a chance to play with it yet - maybe this weekend.

My Dad is in pain. Big Pain. I pushed for him to take the pain meds every 3 hours instead of 4; he was afraid that he would run out before the pharmacy opened on Monday - so we counted it out, he’d have enough to make it to noon on Monday. By the time I left he said the pain was more tolerable. My Dad is a tough stubborn man. He never shows pain, it was so hard to watch him try to get out of bed, and to walk with him. I’m hoping that they start Physical Therapy this week - and get those muscles to loosen up.

The kids had a good time, but got bored. Pan asked me what was wrong with their tv as they only got 4 channels (abc, nbc, cbs and pbs). The kids did play outside in the tireswing, and in the yard, but I think they missed having their cousins around and missed Grandpa being able to play with them. We did take up almost all our DVD’s up for my Dad to watch and the kids watched Shark Tales, Shrek 1 & 2 and Cheaper by the Dozen with him. But even I got bored watching movies.

I helped my mom - I worked in the garden. Picking the veggies and weeding. They have everything growing in their garden - and could run a farmer’s market out of it. It’s hard to believe that when we were kids the garden was even bigger. In this day and age you don’t hear about people living off their garden, but Mom and Dad could. They freeze and/can just about anything and everything for the winter. Mom sent home with me - three paper grocery sacks (the big brown ones) full of apples, Green String Beans, Green Bell Peppers, Banana Peppers, tomatoes (about 2 doz) cucumbers (about a doz) two cantelope, and a watermelon. We will never eat all this food. I’ve already cut up and frozen several quart bags of apples - will make excellent apple pies, crisp and sauce.

Now I’m needing to do some laundry and some stuff around the house - will be around to check out everyone’s blogs - but will take a while…

One of my sisters and her hubby live off their own garden and until recently had a small business selling their produce. But you are right, not many people do that anymore.

Hope you get caught up on your rest tonight. I’m still tired from my weekend trip, too.

Now THAT’S my idea of a garden! This year we didn’t even try for a garden beyond what was already established (strawberries, raspberries and grapes), what with the newish baby, I knew I wouldn’t have time. I’m jonesing for good tomatos now.

hehehe…sounds like our house, although we get fox too, so it’s 5 channels. Which is enough for us.

Welcome back. I remember when I was a kid my parents had a huge garden. It kept us busier than my lazy ass liked.

Hope your dad starts feeling better–pain sucks…as does watching TV with only four channels.

You are a good daughter and I know that one day (when you die) this weekend will totally work in your favor…

I’m morbid that way, but I figure if I’m gonna do stuff here I’m gonna get some kind of credit for it down the road!
