True?

I’m only guessing this is true - as I’ve never been rich & miserable. Seeing this reminds me of when I was younger.

Every other summer - all of us (7 people) would pile into the van and drive to Ohio to visit my Dad’s army buddy. Would be in in the van for 18 hours (I think?) only stopping to fill up with gas and bathroom breaks. Mom would pack a cooler with bologna & Cheese & BUTTER sandwiches (I don’t know why -but that’s how it was done.) We were left to our own imaginations to entertain ourselves… reading, drawing, or playing car games (the alphabet game, license plate game etc.) and you can imagine the torture that went on - I’m not touching you - MOOOMM she’s touching me, she’s looking at me, he’s breathing on me …. type crap. Good times people, good times.

Anyway, we drove past this very well-to-do neighborhood in the Chicago area, and I made a comment about all the houses with pools in their backyard, and how they must be “rich”. And one of my sisters made the comment - “But they probably aren’t happy”. (SMARTASS)

The thought running through my head - “I’d risk being unhappy if I could be rich.” Because I seriously doubted that rich people were un-happy.

Too bad I’ve always been happy, I’ve never gotten to test this theory…

I remember seeing people in houses that probably don’t equate to what we live in now and thinking they were rich. I consider us “middle class”. Then again, I was dirt poor so anything nice was rich. :)

As for long drives… the converter that runs our car DVD player broke so we had a 3 hour drive yesterday with no movie. How ever did we do it as kids? Brenna thought it was a tragedy. lol

My kids have been brought up literally from in the womb making treks across the country. LOL. Driving is WAY cheaper than flying and they’ve logged a hundred thousand of miles by now I’m sure. :)

I’d for SURE like to try Happy and Miserable… because I am pretty sure I would NOT be miserable if I was rich. You see, the ONLY thing that gets me ‘down’ is typically money issues. Take those away and I’m walking on cloud nine.

I was dirt poor too as a child, but you know what…I never really wanted for anything…but, now…I think I could handle the Rich and Miserable…because just like meritt, I don’t think I would be miserable…I have great kids, great husband..the money, would just make all of us a little happier…but….things could be worse…I could be living under a bridge…lol….

I don’t believe that money can buy happiness… But I think that lack of money sure can make it difficult to stay optimistic and positive.

Someday I’ll win the lottery. Then I’ll let you know for sure.
