I’m not dead, i just have nothing to say. Well, that’s not true. I have a lot to say, it’s just not blog worthy.
I am in a bind at the moment, I’m sure I’ll figure something out when the date comes.
I found out that I work for a great company for my second job.
I already knew that I work for a not so great company for my main job.
I’m going to finally have surgery. I say finally because I probably should have done that instead of the ablation back in September. I’m too young to be this miserable. She said probably 6 week recovery time. I’m hoping for less. Is it odd that I’m actually looking forward to this? I just want to be done.
I ‘ve got a kid that is coughing, and hacking…is it just the weather changing, or is she sick…. hoping for weather.
The new doors are in, and I like the way they look, I just wished they locked and closed. (Yes, you read that right – the company is going to fix it… I’m waiting and seeing.)
Talked to a friend tonight who is planning her daughter’s wedding. Actually she is just writing the checks to fund the daughter’s wedding. The daughter is going with the less is more theory, but sometimes her less cost a lot more. I think I’m going to encourage Tink to elope.
The lovely and talented Metalmom tagged me – she KNEW i was struggling, trying to blog about something… and she wants to know more about ME!
Six random facts about me….
1. I love chocolate, but don’t like chocolate ice cream (yuck!)
2. I love ‘naps’. especially on rainy days! Don’t you?
3. I’ve never had a manicure or a pedicure. My feet are super ticklish, I don’t think I could handle it, and I don’t like people I don’t know touching me – which leads to…
4. I have space issues – I don’t like it when people lean over me to look at my computer monitor, and I don’t like to lean over people to help with their computer problems, two of my bosses just understand this, they move out of the way so I can use the mouse or keyboard, or let me move out of the way so they can use my computer. The other is just an idiot.
5. I used to have a great memory, and now I can’t remember what I was thinking, let alone what I was supposed to pick up after work. (I write out list, but forget where I put them!)
6. I’m kinda a call it as I see it type of a gal. A spade is a spade – and somehow I have to figure out to say that a spade is a club.
Now for the bizniz part of this deal:
1. Link to the person who tagged you. THANK YOU, Metalmom
2. Mention the rules on your blog. Okay, here they are.
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
4. Tag 6 bloggers and link them. (And here is where I break the rules, I don’t tag people, because by the time I get tagged everyone else has already done it!)
5. Notify taggees by leaving a comment on their blog. (See #4)
The last week when we were in the lower 70’s during the day – and it was sunny, Tink had climbed into the recliner with Mr. Incredible and the weather guy said to expect some snow showers this past Sunday.
Tink says: I went to sleep, and I missed summer? It’s winter?
Oh, can you imagine? Missing summer after the winter we’ve had? I’d have to be committed.
We didn’t get the snow as predicted, it went north.
Note to whoever is in charge of the weather – I have covered my hostas, and the other plants that I could due to the freeze warning that we are under, I’m hoping that they will survive. We could use some nice warm, windy days to dry up the land around here. While the river has started to recede, it has a few more feet to go until it is normal and even then, we don’t need any rain for a while, a long while.
Send me some sun!
As I reading the internet, that’s what I’ve been doing, I’m either stumbling, reading blogs, or reading news sites – yes, sites, I don’t get my news from all one source. I’m open minded that way people – deal with it.
I came across some pictures of cowboy boots, and western belts Which got me thinking of when I was in High School, and how I went to Nebraska for two weeks on an exchange trip. I love horses, always wanted one, never got one, and I remember how much time I got to spend riding. I loved it! And then I was looking up information on the resort we are staying at this summer, and we could go horseback riding – oh the fun! So I continued looking to see how things have change – and I found www.caenders.com – they have so many cute things! and I’m guessing if I my Dad was still farming he would appreciate their items, they look like they could handle a tough day on the farm.
MILLIONS… I could have millions, if I only knew…
Yep, If I could figure out to how to actually stop time, so mom’s could catch up I’d be a millionaire. and I wouldn’t have to work, or worry about not keeping up. Ahhhh, how to get there from here?
Here are some photos -

This is a picture of our friends house and garage from the opposite side of the river – we couldn’t get close enough without walking through water on the other side – the water appears to be just touching the garage – it is not touching the foundation of the house – but the basement is filling up at a great rate!

This is a picture of on our city’s parks. You can see an old army tank, and a gazebo under water – the gazebo is raised – with 8 steps leading up to it. (Tamara – this is the park by the Mill, behind BK.) The water was coming out three of the mill windows – so the water is moving fast.

This is from the first street bridge – this is the Mill and dam – the dam normally has a 15ft drop – as you can see – not much of a drop. The water is coming out of the lower level windows. What you can’t see is to the right is a parking lot for downtown businesses – and it’s under water, their basements have water, and the first floor should be damp (if the past is any indication).

This is between the first and second street bridges – south of the picture above. There was a 4 door compact sedan parked between the telephone poles earlier in the day – the water was covering the wheels, so I don’t know if the water carried it away, or if someone was dumb enough to try to tow it out. What you can’t see is how fast this water is moving – it’s pretty amazing. The van? I’d say it’s gonna be musty for a while.

This is the second street bridge – you can see the food store in the background – they are moving in one week to a new location! Normally – there is about 15 to 20 feet between the bridge and the water. The river is normally between the pillars, not on this side. At the time of the picture they were allowing traffic over both bridges – if the river rises another 1/2 foot they will probably close the first street bridge (they did in the past). And if it goes another full foot they will close the 2nd street bridge (that’s what they have done as well).
Think SUNSHINE! We don’t need anymore rain!
Our town in on a river, the river is flooding. Flood stage is 12 feet. The water at the measuring point at 1:00 pm was over 16 feet. It should crest tonight at midnight at 18 feet. This isn’t as much water as we got in 1999 – where we had a 500 year flood and then two weeks later had a hundred year flood. But more than what we had in 2004. It still causes a lot of damage, and kinda makes life a little difficult. They’ve closed one of the three bridges – we were actually one of the last vehicles to cross it after getting last minute supplies at wal-mart. If the water reaches 17 feet – they will close the “1st street” bridge, and at 18 feet they close the “2nd Street” bridge. Which means, that until they can be inspected (last time took 4 days) I will have drive 7 miles to the East, one mile south, and then 7 miles west, just to go to Wal-Mart, the grocery store and to work (the 10 min trip just became a 45 min detour) it’s a pain in the butt – but ya know what? I don’t have water in my home, so I’m not going to complain about that – it’s just how life is. (We’ve been to both wal-mart and the grocery store – we shouldn’t need anything from there for a few days),
Have invited our friends who at 11:00 (today) only had 4 inches of water in their basement to our house if they want to stay somewhere. They don’t try to pump it out – because with the type of basement they have, it would cause the walls to collapse. They’ve had water touching up to the top step of the basement never on the first floor. I don’t think they will leave their home. They tend to be protective of what little they have. They wish they could move, they just can’t afford it. I understand where they are in life, I get it. Because I get it, I don’t judge them for their choice of how they deal with the flood. They have a sense of humor, and know that since God has brought them to this point, he will get them past it. (I on the other hand would be cussing and swearing God out – because how could he do this to me? It’s always about me – didn’t you know?) I wonder how their faith can be so strong, they have been to hell and back in their lives, and yet, they believe it will be okay, as long as everyone is safe – its’ okay.
Maybe I’ll get some pictures later….
Here I am, nope, it dropped me. Oh, I’m back, nope, it’s gone.
I should be doing an SPF post – but our internet seems to be having a problem. As in – the weather is causing problems – it fried our phone line – so I am connected via the neighbor’s wireless network (just goes to prove that people don’t know that they should put a password on such things.)
Only the signal isn’t very good, and it keeps….
dropping me….
How much longer until the sun comes out??
And Qwest said they’d send their tech out before 7:00 pm on 4/28/08 – yeah…. that’s 4 days no land line, no dsl. and two of those days are on the weekend – they’ve got to be f’in kidding me.
Granted i didn’t expect them to come out while the lightening is flashing, but still….. I want my DSL.

~ Collect food for our local food pantry.
Pan’s Cub Scout Pack, has several community service projects. Collecting food for the food pantry is one that we make sure we participate in every year. Our local food pantry has been very busy this past year. Our Community has had some major layoff’s, and plant closings.
Pan asked 10 people, if they could help. We collected the bags, and the food on my table is what was inside.
Over 70 pounds of food. I’m not sure how many families this will help feed. But I am guessing it will help provide many good meals for those that need it. What will be amazing will be to see what the other boys bring in.
The power of one multiplied by 40.
Wouldn’t that be amazing to see if those boys could stock the shelves?
I attended a district wide meeting today, and because I am learning from my mistakes with the scouts. I sat on my hands.
Somethings that you should know.
The average age of my counterparts: 58 (I kid you not – some of them have been there for 34 years, & have no desire to retire)
Their ability to use the Mail merge feature on a scale of 1-10 (ten being the highest) 3
They just aren’t the most computer sauvy people in the world, they don’t embrace new technology. It’s not their thing. That’s cool, they are using email and understand it’s not the devil. They’ve gotten used to the power of google.
don’t get me wrong – I love these ladies – they are awesome and have a wealth of knowledge. They are wonderful assets. But when the technology team was talking about: Flikr, Twitter, Facebook, blogs, Myspace, IM, SKYPE, they all had looks of fear – I kid you not – FEAR. They were basically making them aware of different options that were available via the web, and different technology that was there. Also they were encouraging them to use IM instead of phone calls as a cost saving measure. Then they broke it to the group that a private BLOG is being set up for us, and we are strongly encouraged to use it. (which is code for – we will use it.) And then they asked for someone who would work with the tech team to get it set up. This is when I sat on my hands. I didn’t volunteer any information.
Wanna know why? I was surrounded by people with a lynch mob mentality. they could have easily killed me. Instead I looked at my notes, over the agenda, when I felt eyes on me. Everyone was looking at me.
looking up FG: Yes?
Techteam guy: Would you be willing to do this?
FG: uhm, well, not really – I only get to work PT for this organization, and I have more than a plate full right now, learning the new acct’ing system, still supporting people on the old…
TechTeam Guy: We can talk to the boss and get you more hours, we have funds available.
FG: uhm, well the other 20 hours are spent working for a grant, and I can’t have OT – I don’t see how I can fit it in.
Area Director: I’m sure you can find the time.
FG: SMILING – I’ll talk to the boss.
WTF? How does this happen?
