It’s a Twis - well maybe not

Tonight - we had a little hands on lesson in weather.

1) When spotting storms, always have a way out.

2) When pulled over to the side of the road watching clouds, people will stop and talk to you non-stop while you are trying to listen to see where the EOC wants you to go next.

3) we need a sitter, who we can call on a moments notice, because I love to go with Mr. Incredible when he storm chases. We talked to some people who were professionals NWLS- they chase for a living (twing of jealousy), and they had seen some pretty amazing storms earlier today.

4) The kids - didn’t really appreciate any of our weather lessons.

*************************************************************

I feel so bad for a small community just a few counties west of here. There is nothing left, Yes, I mean there is nothing left. They showed pictures on the news, and I have seen damage that bad before - Spencer, SD in the early 90s - I’m guessing they will rate this storm as an EF4.  ** they have confirmed 7 deaths from this storm 50 injuries - several of them life threatening -as of 9:45 pm - the tornado was at points 1/2 mile wide.  And one particular town - the south side, the east side, the high school, GONE.

Right now, Mr. Incredible is at the EOC assisting as parts of our county were hit pretty bad, this is a little too close to home,

Sounds like we are in for a long night… there goes the sirens - wth? Nothing - no wind, no rain,

*Heading towards the basement*

I’m thinking of just letting the kids sleep down there tonight - they might sleep better.  and it’s just a major thunderstorm right now - the lightening show is amazing.    (I love to watch thunderstorms, I love the smell of the air as they approach) I’m weird, it’s okay - I know it.    The weather guys and GAL are having such a hard time covering the storm.  The particular channel I’m watching, is small town, and they know everyone, and to hear of someone losing their home, their farm, and then to hear that 50 people are injured, and 7 people have died.  If that doesn’t make you think, I question whether you are human.

but the incredible’s are fine, tomorrow we may be a bit busy helping some friends clean up - but we are fine.

Sodapop - thanks for stoppin’ in… and storm chasing is fun - I hated it at first, but I trust Mr. Incredible and that makes all the difference.

Shelia - right now the basement sucks - it’s under some reconstruction, but in a few weeks - will be pretty nice, we will even have a good place to go in case of a storm.

    Wow. Mr. Incredible chases storms?

    I am jealous.

Although to be honest, I’m not too crazy about basements.

NYCWD - He watches them, and reports them to the dispatch center from a safe distance. He has always like weather - He should have been a meterologist.

Blue - wait a minute - you’ll let some guy punch your skin a million time over with a needle for the sake of art, and storms scare you? WTH WOMAN - storms are nothing compared to needles. I hate needles.

Glad you are okay, we don’t have the siren system around here. We just call everyone we know if something bad is coming, and they in turn, do the same. My husband would LOVE to chase storms!

FG, I was thinking about you. We are okay, too, but the cities all around us were not. It’s so tragic. I am thinking and praying for all those affected, too.

hey fantastagirl. good to hear from you. i was glued to the news Sunday night. One of our dear friends is the pastor in that small town. The things we’ve heard from them are amazing. They’re currently staying with family down the road from me as their house has 4 walls but no roof. Can you imagine? Three little ones (4, 2 1/2, 6 months) to be cared for, no house to live in, funerals to give this week, and a church body that needs cared for. Ecerything but their clothes, some toys and maybe their washer/dryer are salvageable. Otherwise, all gone!
