Usually things look better in the light of day - today - the only thing that looks good is hope. Hope that they will be able to rebuild, hope that their school can be rebuilt and opened in the fall for classes. Hope that the families will stay, and another small town doesn’t just disappear.
From the news reports: they have called in the National Guard, and the town that was basically taken off the map last night, is open from 6 AM to 8 PM, they only way you are getting in - is if you can prove you lived there. The pictures are just devastating, 1/3 of the town is just gone, as in gone. They have started the clean up process, heavy equipment operators have been working since early this morning, and from the reports they have started to get a handle on it.
The towns north of us in our county that were hit, have also been closed to the public. I wanted to take the kids to see their ducks at the nature center, but getting there is going to be the problem. In the light of day - the power lines are down, vehicles are overturned, barns are flattened, animals are missing, homes are badly damaged. But our county is lucky - and we know it.

How very scary! For some reason I thought you lived in the way south. Not sure why… How scary for you all.
I know Britt’s family was effected horribly by this all.

We were lucky where we were over the weekend. All we got was rain, but there was worse going on all around us.
Glad you’re safe.
