lists

I should start with I am a list type of a girl, if it is on my “list” I’ll get it done, not on my list?   Chances are I’ll forget.   I currently have two lists on my desk.  The once list is “action” items, things deemed important, and I must accomplish before Wednesday Morning at 8:00 AM - uhm, yeah, right.  The person who deemed these as important?  not my boss.  3 of the 5 things on this list are done.  One, I have to wait for someone to return my call, the other is out of my hands, I can’t control the mail.  (Nope, not one of my powers.)

This morning, I sat down at my desk and thought…

“Wow, I could accomplish something today.”  People were out of my office, It’s a Monday, relatively quiet, it should be an easy day - no major fires from the weekend to work on… Yeah, I’m gonna get “the LONG list” started, and get a good chunk of it gone.  It’s gonna be a good day… and then at 8:05 am

the phone rings,

and the emails start coming in…

and the list gets put to the side, I put out the fires, and get back to my list.  I eat my lunch at my desk, so I can keep working on a few key projects that HAVE to go out today.  and then before I know it - it’s time to go home.  and my list?  While it’s not gone….  there is a small dent.

This morning, I had 20 things on my list - all of which have to be done before Oct 9th.

I accomplished 5.

yep -  and this was a good day.

Tomorrow’s Goal?  Get rid of items number 6 though 17 - I should be able to do it.

I’ll just have to say that magic word.  “No”  and delegate some of these “must be completed projects” to someone else.

(ROTFLMAO…. like I know how to say or do any of that…. - I want it done right, and my way!).

I find lately that my list just gets longer and longer and that I accomplish less and less every day. I guess I’m just preparing for when baby comes.

My new motto is “I can do what I can do.” I have had to let go of things that are out of my control..
That sounds good.. now the truth..
I am like you ..it drives me f’n bananas when I can’t get stuff done on my time schedule the way I want. I too have lists (and lists for my lists)…ugh..

I use lists too. I Hope you get 6 - 17 done! I remember ending each day in my office with a list and a pile of things to do when I started the next day.
