On the way home today – somewhere between here and there, Tink called to say she missed us. She wanted us to come get her NOW! Not Tuesday, not tomorrow – but NOW! The heartbreak in her voice, knowing at the time that she was at least 8 hours away from me, and knowing that even when we got back to “Gotham City”, she would still be 4 hours away, breaks my heart, a thousand times over.
Of course, I tell her what I know I am supposed to – she will have fun, she is going to love spending time with Grandpa and Grandma. That I know she misses us, and her Auntie – but that she and Pan will get to climb trees, go exploring, and have a great time! And we will see her on Tuesday!
10 minutes after I hang up with her, my mom calls – Tink is running and playing and have a great time – I can hear her giggling in the background – saying -”Push me higher Grandpa!”

My daughter kept sending me texts saying she missed me (she’s 14) and that she wanted me to come back. She also told me that the 4 yr old didn’t say a single word about me. Not sure which one broke my heart more.
I loved meeting you and your hubby. You guys are awesome and I look forward to getting to know you better
