It was a girls night out… honey there ain’t no doubt…
So I met up with some co-workers and friends at a restaurant in the big city and after supper, we went to “My Sister’s Keeper”. We all read the book by Jodi Picoult. And you would have thought – we read the book, we know better than to watch the movie, because a movie is never as good as the book. I didn’t like the ending of the movie, I was disappointed.
But I cried, bawled would be more like it -tears were just streaming down my face. sooo very sad – the lady two rows ahead of us, had to leave, she was literally sobbing so hard.
One of my co-workers car was having battery issues, and one quick call to triple A got a tow-truck to jump it… note to self – get battery cables in truck… had a great discussion with the tow truck guy – you think i’m kidding, but sadly I’m not. Nice guy – taking over the business for his Dad. And if he treats all customers like he did us – he will be successful!
So that was the excitement for the night, that must be why – when I asked Mr I if he minded that I went out tonight he didn’t care…. I think I need friends that are more exciting!

I wonder if it’s a midwest thing. I belong to a book group (we meet at the library) and in respect to one of our members, we have a no alcohol policy for our overnight – so it stays pretty tame.
I also go on one or two scrapbooking overnights. We do take a break for a drink or two at the bar, and last time we brought dance, dance revolution for the Wii to take dance breaks.
And, sometimes we have girls movie night at someone’s house.
Yea, supper exciting – but I love my friends.

Kirsten – I am beginning to think so – I need a group of ladies that don’t mind having a drink…not that I want to get sloshed, but a margarita or two? There is one gal in our group that thinks alcohol is the root of all evil…

My friend and I saw a preview for that movie today … we both read the book and shook our heads “no” throughout the preview, like NO WAY IN HELL are we going to see this movie!!! But then I saw a preview for a John Travolta/Robin Williams movie that literally made me weep. Actually, it was Seth Green being cradled by a gorilla while singing “All out of love” that made me weep. GNOs are the best!

Ours has a better excuse. She is a recovering alcoholic. I can understand completely why she doesn’t want to be around alcohol.
Maybe DH will someday get his dream job and teach at Iowa State and we can find a way to have a drink while living in the same state.

I read the book so long ago I can’t remember what it’s about — but I have that problem with 99% of books.
Gary never minds if I go out with friends… probably because I don’t really like most people and my going out consists of me leaving the house for and hour and then coming home and saying, “WHAT WAS I THINKING?! I don’t like people….” LOL

I just wasn’t interested in that movie. I haven’t read the book either. Though, I originally thought it was about a thing in the news a few years back.
